I have a pet peeve.
Ok, I have more than one but today I have one specific pet peeve.
We try and avoid packaged, boxed meals around here but it’s been a rather crazy day and we keep a few in the cabinet for these types of occasions. Since I’m following Weight Watchers again, I had to input all the nutrition information into my tracker and realized that the box was WRONG.
Well, it wasn’t wrong, but if you weren’t paying attention you could easily write down the wrong nutrition info and therefore track your points wrong.
See, the info they provide is AS PACKAGED.
Like if you were to open the package and eat it plain.
Without adding the milk required to cook it and make it an edible meal.
In order to get the “as prepared” nutrition info, you have to go down to the bottom to the really, really, really fine print and read it there.
So my question is why?
No one is going to eat it “as packaged”.
Well, a few weirdos might.
They have a column for “prepared” but they only list the calories there and the percentages, not the rest of the information that is important to many, many people who watch their diets.
It’s just stupid.
AS PREPARED is what most people want to know. Put the “as packaged” in the fine print.
I think it’s misleading.
And I just don’t like it.
