My daughter is 3-years-old and my niece who I watch 4 days a week is 2-years-old. While I don’t need a traditional big stroller anymore because they both prefer to walk whenever possible, there are times where a stroller is nice to have around, like for trips to the mall or long walks where one of them might get tired. We had a big travel style stroller for the longest time but since last summer it mostly has just been in the way and moved from van to garage to van again hardly being used. It really became something that was simply a nuisance and not worth all the effort for the couple of times we actually used it.
In my search for a smaller, lightweight stroller that would serve our needs but also not take up too much room, I was offered the opportunity to check out a The First Years Ignite Lightweight Stroller.
Here’s a little bit about the stroller from the company:
The First Years Ignite Stroller-Easier for You, More Comfortable for your Baby!
Finally a stroller that is durable and, yes, it really will comfortably fit your little one up to 50 lbs. The Ignite features today’s popular Euro-styled frame combined with our contemporary fashions, delivering a stroller that you will love to use.
The wider seat base means a more comfortable ride for your child, which will keep them in their seat longer. The larger wheels (6″ diameter), all eight of them, allows your stroller to glide over any surface. Worried about keeping your little one in their seat? The addition of the five-point harness means your little one is securely seated.
For you, the taller handles mean no more hitting the back side of the stroller or the wheels while you go for that afternoon walk or trip to the mall. Sunny day? No worries, the fully-adjustable and removable (for those cloudy days) canopy means your little one will always ride in the comfort of shade. And if your little one starts to nod off during your long afternoon walk, simply use the recline feature and they can comfortably snooze while you continue on your way!
The large upper storage console for you means your water bottle, your keys, your wallet and more are easy to access as you are out and about. And the underneath storage provides plenty of room for your diaper bag and any other “extras” you bring or buy along the way. And when you stop, the rear wheel brakes (we also added front-wheel swivel locks) will allow the stroller to stay in place.
The Ignite stroller features an easy, one-hand fold–and weighs only 14 lbs, so it is easy to toss in your trunk in between trips.

I really like this stroller.
I wasn’t quite sure about the color when I first opened up the box but now I love it.
The Ignite was super easy to put together, the wheels snapped right on and so did the canopy. It folds up and unfolds easily as well.
This stroller is a DREAM to push compared to others I had had. First of all, the tall handles are great. Not too tall that my son can’t push, but tall enough that both me and my 6′ tall husband are comfortable pushing it. The parent storage area is perfect. I can carry a bottle of water, my keys, my phone, my sunglasses, my wallet and still have room to spare in the zippered compartment.
Oh and I don’t kick this stroller while pushing it like I have with the other strollers we had.
The recline feature is super easy to use, although getting the seat back up requires you to pull two strings in opposite directions which I had trouble with at first, but now I’m a pro.
The basket on the bottom is a lifesaver compared to traditional “umbrella strollers.” It’s not huge and because of the metal bars for the stroller frame it can be tricky sliding things in it, especially when the seat is reclined, but it is a great feature to have.
The stroller rides smoothly and while it is lightweight, it might take some people 2 arms to lift it into the car. It does fold down fairly small but it is quite long, although it takes up less than 1/2 of the room width-wise as our travel stroller did.
Overall I’d definitely recommend The First Years Ignite Lightweight Stroller for someone in the market for a lightweight stroller with a higher weight capacity and with an MSRP of $59.99, you can’t go wrong.
My niece gives it her seal of approval too!
