My son is pretty active. He plays football, rides his bike, playing with the neighborhood kids and is frequently running around outside doing something. He will be 7 in December and as he gets older, he’s getting more able to participate in things that require coordination like roller skating. He wants a skateboard but I’M just not ready for that yet. Thankfully some smart person invented scooters.
The Shox Scooter from Shred Sled isn’t just ANY scooter however. This isn’t your little sister’s scooter!
Shred Sled, a company specializing in extreme sports products for children is introducing the Shox Scooter, the first-ever active shock absorber scooter that allows riders to perform higher, faster, more awesome tricks! Unlike traditional scooters, the Shox Scooter’s supreme shocks increase a rider’s speed and air-time, making stunts bigger and better.
Great for beginners learning their very first “ollie,” or advanced riders landing those perfect “180’s,” the deck’s rough grip surface provides excellent foot control and traction while performing tricks.
The Shox Scooter is made from lightweight aluminum and is designed to increase speed. The spring shock deck has a rough grip surface to provide control and traction while performing tricks and the scooter has a back brake for added safety. It has an adjustable height handle with foam grips to grow with your child and it folds down for easy storage.
Jake was a little unsteady on it the first time as he got used to using it. The scooter he had when he was younger was a 3-wheeled scooter so the balance thing came into play here where it didn’t before. Two or three times down the driveway and he was a pro. At least as far as simply riding it goes. We’re nowhere near ready for tricks but he is interested in what kinds of tricks he can do with his Shox Scooter. He does love the scooter and I’ve found him choosing it over his bike most of the time lately.
I like that the scooter folds down for storage and when we take trips to grandma’s and he wants to bring it with. It appears to be quite sturdy and the height adjuster is easy to use. Ours did come a little crooked – the handles, when you straightened out the front wheel were not perpendicular, they were a little off. It was easy to fix though, my husband loosened something on the bottom, lined them up, and tightened them back. From a safety perspective, I am so happy it has a brake rather than relying on his SHOES to slow him down and bring him to a stop.
I am excited for Jake to learn some tricks as he gets older, I this scooter has a lot of years of use potential because as he gets more comfortable with it and more adept at using it, the Shox spring deck will continue to challenge his skills and take his agility with it to the next level as opposed to a traditional scooter. Before long he’ll be asking to go to the skate park in town!
The Shred Sled Shox Scooter is appropriate for ages 5 and up and is available nationwide at retailers, online at ShredSled.com and at Amazon.com. The retail price is $59.99 but Amazon has it for $49.99.
Shred Sled recommends riders always wear protective safety gear when using Shox Scooter.
