Apparently I broke a man-cave rule.
I put water in the beer fridge.
Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with that. I do yard work and cold water is important. The beer fridge is in the garage which means easy access to my water. But I guess I violated some sacred man cave rule.
I am not sure if the problem is that the water is taking up space that could be occupied by beer, or if the water is just uncool and not worthy of his fancy new beverage cooler.
NewAir AB-850 84 Can Beverage Cooler
Prior to having the New Air AB-850 Beverage Cooler in his life, my husband used an old mini-fridge in his garage for his beer. A mini-fridge with a missing shelf. Which means he could fit about 6 cans of beer in it at any given time. Which means when he was out there doing whatever it is men do in their man caves, he would end up traipsing in and out of my house to replenish the fridge. Which inevitably meant me having to clean up sawdust that he tracked through my house.
So an 84 can capacity means sometimes days go by before he comes back into the house!
Ok, so he doesn’t spent that much time out there, and much of this is tongue-in-cheek, but the NewAir AB-850’s huge capacity really comes in handy, especially for entertaining and summers spent doing yard work and hanging out outside.
- 84-can capacity
- Temperature control ranging from 34-64 degrees F
- LED lighting
- Removable racks
- Compact design
- Attractive finish perfect for home bar or office setting, but at home in a rec room or man cave as well
It really is a good looking fridge, and we love that you can see what is inside. It makes it easy to know if it needs to be refilled. And despite, the workshop setting, it really looks good in there.
We also love the blue LEDs that make an attractive ambient light source.
Overall, this is a great fridge, but my husband does have one complaint. He said the shelves have a design flaw and that the small fins under the metal shelves designed to make them sit at the right height are too short. Because of this, the shelves sit too low and you can’t get the cans all the way back, they get stuck under the lower bar on the shelf. We actually had to shim the shelves up so he could get the cans in there, and even then it’s a tight squeeze.
We read on Amazon.com where a reviewer had used plastic straws to shim up the shelves, which seems like a great solution.
One other thing I do want to mention is that the original fridge we received was dented. NewAir sent us another one, and paid to ship the first one back to them. The second one also had a dent in it, but on the side against the wall. We just don’t know for sure where the damage was happening, for one the outer box didn’t appear to be damaged, for the other one is was. We chose to keep the second fridge because it doesn’t effect the function of the unit and we were able to hide it. I did, however, ask NewAir how they normally handle this for the average consumer. They told me that their first course of action is to ask the consumer if they would like to keep the unit and receive money back on it. I think this is a great solution, especially if the damage will be hidden like ours was.
You can purchase the NewAir AB-850 Beverage Cooler at Amazon.com.Note: We received the unit shown for review. Opinions are my own.
