Omron Fitness Challenge – from “after” to AMAZING #iheartOmron

I am one of the most competitive people on the planet. I like to win. But when I do, I earn it because I am not afraid to put in the work. When it comes to health and fitness, that competitiveness turns into passion and I am unstoppable.

This tenacious attitude is going to help fuel me during the next few weeks as I compete as an ambassador in the Omron Fitness Challenge with Mamavation!

The challenge received over 600 applications for only 25 spots and I was originally selected as an alternate in the challenge. As an alternate I would move up only if someone else could not participate, and well, someone could not participate so I moved up from alternate to participant.

My Story:

For as long as I can remember, physical activity has been a part of my life. From gymnastics and softball when I was a kid, to running cross-country in high school. My mom always made sure we kept active. Despite this focus on fitness, I still always struggled with maintaining my weight. I was definitely one of those people who had to count calories and moderate my food. I didn’t like it, but for the most part, I managed to keep it in check.

Until I had kids.

50 lbs gained with the first one and over 70 lbs gained with the second (with some lost in between) meant a whole lot of extra weight on my 5′-6″ frame. For a long time I lived with it, content with my growing family, but silently wishing things were different. Wishing I was different.

Then one day, I decided to do something about it.

And my whole world changed.

50 lbs is a whole lot of weight to lose, and I did it. I currently am 15 lbs from my goal weight and every day I take the time to remember that person who used to hide under baggy clothes. I remember because I don’t ever want her back, and by reminding myself of the journey, it’s a lot easier to make sure I never go back.

I will never forget her….

Because she got me here.

Challenge Details:

Ambassadors will receive an Omron HJ-323U connected pedometer, the new Omron 510W Scale to track our activity and changes in our bodies during the competition.  We are also getting a fitness plan to follow. At some point later in the challenge we will be receiving the new Omron Strapless Heart Rate Monitor (HR-5ooU). Both the pedometer and the heart rate monitor sync up with The Omron Fitness Dashboard so we can accurately track our activity and create goals to keep us challenged.

And all of us will be sharing our journey during the 30 day challenge using the hashtag #iHeartOmron.

My Goals:

I realize that my current picture is many people’s “after” picture. I am proud of myself and really do consider it my “after” picture. But I don’t want to stop at “after,” I don’t want to stop until I reach AMAZING, and I believe this challenge will help me get there. I want to be more toned overall, lose the extra bit of tummy that is still hanging on and get my thighs and butt more toned.

I am stoked about taking it to the next level, excited to get to know the other participants, anxious to start using the tools Omron is providing for us, and very motivated to share my journey from “after” to AMAZING.

This post is sponsored Omron Fitness as a collaboration with Bookieboo Blogging Network and Mamavation – a community dedicated to weight loss for women and obesity prevention for families.  I was provided with product and compensation for my time and honest opinions.

  1. Thanks for sharing the photos. I, too, didn’t know that you were previously that overweight. I need to lose about 50 pounds and have been looking at NutriSystem lately. You’re doing a great job and in the few years that I’ve known you online I can tell that you really do work hard to maintain what you’ve achieved and that you’ll get where you want to be.

    Good luck!

    • Thanks Monique!

I think we all reach that breaking point where we commit to it and finally just do it. I have found maintenance to be fairly easy so long as I am psycho about weighing myself daily to stay in check.

      You can do it!

  2. Wow Kim, I could never have imagined you were ever that overweight. You do look amazing right now and hearing how hard you work and how passionate you are, I have no doubt you’ll reach that goal weight.

    • That’s Cat! It’s pretty amazing to look back at. Seeing pictures like that compared to my current picture makes it very easy to stay motivated.

  3. You look amazing!!

  4. You are amazing!
