Most years when Awards Season rolls around, my husband and I are left completely clueless having not seen any of the current years’ movies. We very rarely go to the theater and when it comes to movie rentals, those are few and far between as well.

But this year, somehow, we have managed to actually see a couple of the nominees which makes me a feel a little less out of the loop.

We haven’t seen them all by a long shot yet, however, but that’s ok because Movies on Demand makes it easy to get completely caught up so you are ready for Awards Season!

The other day, my husband came home with two movies that he had rented from the local video store. I didn’t even know we had an account there. We returned them late because of the weather, of course, but we did manage to watch them both, and both of them happen to be awards nominees!

By the way, Movies on Demand eliminates late fees because you don’t have to leave the house to return the movie.

Movies on Demand has many titles the same day as they come out on DVD, often weeks before Netflix and Redbox. And again, you don’t have to leave the house. You get the movie you want, when you want, without hassle and great quality. Have you ever rented a DVD only to have it skip? That happens to me all the time.

So, back to my limited movie viewing habits.

I had taken my kids to see Despicable Me 2 in the theaters when it first came out. We all loved it and it absolutely deserves an award. The movies my husband brought home the other day couldn’t have been more different – Captain Phillips and Bad Grandpa.

Neither of which I had heard of.

Both of which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Tom Hanks had me on the edge of my seat the whole time and despite my normal aversion to the jackass style of humor, I found Bad Grandpa to be pretty funny. I haven’t been as emotionally drained by a movie in a long time and Captain Phillips was a nail biter. I think knowing it was a true story made it all the much more dramatic. Bad Grandpa was that silly kind of humor that you wish you could do but just don’t have the nerve to try. I love hidden camera type scenarios.

Movies on Demand has all three of these great movies, and a list of other fantastic nominees as well.
