So many time that I think my kids will like something, I buy the DVD, they watch it once or twice, and then never, ever want to watch it again.

This happens all the time.

I have a whole pile of children’s DVDs I thought would be a big hit with them but they just sit gathering dust.

I have to admit that I wasn’t optimistic that the  Nursery Rhyme Singing Time with Mother Goose Club DVD would be any different.  I thought, ‘they’re just nursery rhymes, been there, don’t that.’  Another DVD to gather dust.

Completely, absolutely, extremely wrong.

We received a Mother Goose Club pack with the following:

  • Nursery Rhyme Singing Time with Mother Goose Club DVD
  • Mother Goose Club Sings Nursery Rhymes Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 CD Pack
  • Nursery Rhyme Coloring Time Book

My kids absolutely adore the Mother Goose Club!

About Mother Goose Club

Mother Goose Club is a series of 1-minute educational programs for preschoolers promoting early literacy. The live-action series features six colorful characters from the Mother Goose world: Teddy Bear, Jack B. Nimble, Little Bo Peep, Baa Baa Sheep, Mary Quite Contrary, and Eep Mouse, who invite viewers to sing and dance along to favorite nursery rhymes.

Early childhood research has shown that familiarity with nursery rhymes helps young children learn to read. When preschoolers read, recite, sing or clap along to rhymes, they develop a feel for the sounds and structures of language, the first step in becoming successful readers. Mother Goose rhymes also introduce children to characters, drama, simple story structure and a host of new vocabulary words, all building blocks for early literacy. Perhaps most importantly, children are delighted by the singing, clapping, and finger play in nursery rhymes, and learn to associate words and verse with joy, laying the foundation for a lasting enthusiasm for reading.

My daughter is 3 and my son is 7 and they both ask to watch it all the time.  The other day they curled up together on the couch under a blanket and watched it and sang along together.  That DVD might actually be magic.  My kids never get along that well.  They constantly ask me to play the CD’s in the car and my 2 year old niece has also become a fan of Mother Goose Club.

From the second the Sockeye Media logo comes on the screen (they love the little fish) they are captivated by the characters come to life, the fun songs, and the stories that go along with them.

Nothing speaks louder – literally and figuratively – about how involved my kids get watching and listening to Mother Goose Club as the video below:

When she’s not jumping on the couch (which I normally don’t allow) singing at the top of her lungs, my daughter like to color along in the coloring book while watching the DVD.  She actually calls the DVD “The Jack Show” because Jack B. Nimble introduces himself at the beginning.

Aside from being so captivating, education and fun for my kids, one of the other great things about the Mother Goose Club and the songs on the DVD and CDs is that mom can sing along at the top of her lungs if she is so inclined, cause we all know the words to these classic kids nursery rhymes.  If she’s so inclined.  I *might* be so inclined.
