Around here, there is no lack of military pride. My husband was retired as a disabled Veteran after 16 years of service to this country in the U.S. Navy, and it is still an important part of our lives. Especially with my nephew currently enlisted and serving in “A” School as he prepares for his career in the Navy.
Just the other day my daughter I had a conversation about the Navy. She asked a lot of questions about what the Navy does and why. I told her about the service and sacrifice and protecting our freedoms.
This is the conversation that followed:
“Can girls go in the Navy?” she asked.
“Yes, girls can join,” I told her.
“Were you in the Navy?” she asked.
“No, I didn’t join the Navy,” I answered.
“So you don’t have to join if you don’t want to?” she questioned.
“Nope, it’s all up to you,” I said.
“I think I will join the Navy,” she said.
She has a good 12 years to go before she has to make that decision final and I can’t wait see how it all plays out.
In the meantime, we will continue to share our military pride with our chidren, all the while letting them make their own decisions about the future of their lives. Although I think we would both be proud if they chose to follow in their father’s footsteps.
Now is the perfect time to be talking about military pride because May is Military Appreciation Month and Chevy is honoring those who serve our country in a big way by giving back to those who have given so much.
During Military Appreciation Month, Chevy is offering current and former military members a military discount matched by no other vehicle manufacturer. This discount is available to all Veterans including Active Duty, Reserves and Retirees.
This is Chevy’s commitment to serving all who have served.
Military members put their lives on the line. They give up their time. They spend holidays in foreign countries. They miss important milestones in their families lives. And their families sacrifice a lot too. Because they believe that serving their country is one of the most important things that you can do. And they usually don’t get paid any more for their trouble compared to their civilian counterparts.
I am so very excited and impressed with Chevy’s #ChevySalutes program! This program can save a family thousands of dollars and put them in a safe reliable vehicle. This offers military members peace of mind that their family is as safe as possible while they are away and provides retirees with valuable savings so they don’t have to dig into their savings to afford a reliable vehicle.
But Chevy’s support of the military isn’t limited to the month of May. Chevy also gives back to the men and women who serve our country by supporting these great programs as well:
Also, Chevy has employed over 60,000 Veterans!
