Recently we moved from an older, well established neighborhood and a fifty-some year old house to a new developing subdivision and a two year old house. Parts of our new neighborhood don’t even have sidewalks or lawns because they are still building homes.
When we were looking for a new home (and I mean new for us, not necessarily brand new), the idea of a new young subdivision appealed to us. They look so open and sunny and we liked the fact that the houses were newer, especially after dealing with the repair work that comes with an older home.
When faced with comments from friends and family about there not being any trees (aside from tiny ornamental ones), I actually liked the thought that there would be no leaves to rake nor would there be TV interference when the wind blew the branches across the path of the satellite dish.
Yesterday we went for a walk and were gone maybe 30-40 minutes. I had Abby in a front carrier. I put sunscreen on her because I’d be a horrible mother if I didn’t with her pale skin but not myself. I’ve never needed it for a short walk. This morning I woke up to pain and bright red arms.
I think I miss the trees…..
