I started INSANITY today!

The first day on the INSANITY program is a fit test with 8 different exercise that you complete for 1 minute each counting the number of reps you can do.  This is a benchmark, as you continue on the program you repeat the fit test so you can see how you improve, basically because the number of reps you can do as you get in better shape should increase each time.

I was excited to start, I think I didn’t sleep well because of it.  I got up early, geared up (including my new New Balance Cross-Training shoes) and popped in the DVD.

I look like a muppet, but I made a little video before starting (the volume is low so you may need to turn yours up).

It wasn’t easy.  At all.  But I dug deep!  I pushed myself and was sweating and drank 24 oz of water during the 24 minute test.

I am looking forward to tomorrow.  The program is designed to have you working out 6 days a week and appears to be extremely varied.

I might already have a crush on Shaun T.

    You go girl! You don’t look bad for 5:30 am! At least you are working out! If I’m up that early that means a kid woke me up haha. :) Good luck!

      HAHAHA, thanks! Usually that’s the case for me too but I figured it’s the only time I can have to myself and not feel guilty or like I should be doing something else – well, I mean I SHOULD be sleeping but that’s my time to do what I want.

      So far so good, I got up 2 days in a row and LIKED IT.

    I remember when I used to go to Women’s Workout World. I kind of loved it. I used the steppper, rower, and bike. Sometimes I did the weight machines but preferred the others. It was the first time experienced a “second wind” that people talk about getting. I would get to a point where I thought I could not go on but pushed my selfelf and it got easier. The best thing about it was driving home drinking my water. All of a sudden a would just feel great. It felt so good to be sweaty and have finished the workout.

      That second wind is so true, just like the runner’s high is true. There is something about being that exhausted that fuels you.

      I couldn’t sleep again last night, I wanted to workout! I got up again, and tackled day 2. I can feel all the muscles in my stomach yelling at me.

      Kristen, yeah they warn it you it is not for someone who isn’t already in at least moderate shape. And I just did day 2 and I really think I hit it at the perfect time. I kept up with about 75% of the exercise but at a slower pace. Room for improvement but not so far behind I’m discouraged.

      You will get there too!
