I’m pretty sure it isn’t alien marshmallows. Right?

Please someone tell me what this is.

There are 3 piles of it in the mulch in front of my house.

The truth IS out there.

  1. Definitely some type of fungus. I second the compost suggestion :)

  2. Slime! Still might be other-worldly! :D

  3. I have a friend that says its nicknamed “dog vomit fungus” its a mold and you should not breathe it be careful around it if you have mold issues.

  4. what the?!

  5. Weird! Any luck finding out what it is?

  6. Well, that looks gross. Maybe is gigantic snail poop?! ;)

  7. It looks like alien marshmallows to me too! Or some type of fungus?

  8. Ha! I’m sticking with alien marshmallows.

  9. I have never seen anything like that, but my guess would be some kind of subterranean insects are crawling around. When was the last time you had your house checked for termites?

  10. It looks like dried out slime moss or fungus. Very common on wood mulch. It starts out yellow or orange and dries out to brown and then white. It doesn’t harm anything and actually feeds on the bacteria in the mulch.

You can remove it and compost it or just leave it be.
