Have you ever seen those close-up pictures of the mites and other things that can be found on your bedding and couches and stuff? Well, I’m not going to post any here because I don’t want to look at them. It creeps me out to think that those things are living in our fabrics. I can’t even begin to imagine what lives in the carpet where feet walk, and often shoes from outside (don’t get me started…).
So how much of this stuff that is in and on our fabrics is affecting our bodies? How many runny noses and puffy eyes could be avoided if only dust mites and pet dander (some of the most common indoor allergies) were not a factor? I suppose you could sleep on vinyl sheets, buy leather couches and eliminate all fabrics throughout your home, but that isn’t realistic.
Clorox has addressed this very issue with their new product called Clorox Anywhere Anti-Allergen Fabric Spray.
Immediately for me, when I hear Clorox, I think bleach. I think pure and clean. Clorox, for generations, has made products that are all about promoting a healthy world and a cleaner home, so it is only natural they would create an anti-allergen spray.
I received a bottle of Clorox Anywhere Anti-Allergen Fabric Spray to try and review and at first I admit I had a blonde, domestically challenged, accidental mommy moment. I read “fabric spray” and thought it was a fabric freshener, so I sprayed the arm of the couch with it, bent down, and sniffed. Nothing. So, I did it again. Still nothing. Hmm… Being the sharp college graduate that I am, I thought “uh-oh, what do I do now, I might not be able to review this in a positive light” So, I set the bottle aside while I figured out what to do. A couple of days later I picked the bottle back up, read it and said…out loud for my son hear…”I’m an idiot.” *giggle* “Mommy’s an idiot” I heard from the other room. Nice job, idiot.
So, needless to say, this product is an ANTI-ALLERGEN fabric spray designed to remove allergens, NOT freshen odors.
From the Clorox website:
This gentle and effective formula helps neutralize up to 90 percent of common indoor allergens* that can hide in upholstery and fabrics throughout the house. The formula works by changing the structure of allergen proteins, rendering them inactive. The fragrance-free, dye-free spray is safe on virtually all fabrics and gentle enough to use around kids and pets. Not recommended on fabrics that are prone to water spotting such as leather, wool, silk and mohair.
* Neutralizes up to 90% of allergens*
* Gentle enough to use around kids and pets
* Safe on virtually all fabrics**
*Dust mite matter, cat dander and dog dander.
**refer to label instructions prior to use
Now I know I joked earlier about not being able to smell the Clorox Anywhere spray but that was actually a little misleading. When I got close enough, I did notice that there was a smell. I can’t really explain it well, but it smelled like a swimming pool. Not a chlorine smell, but a clean water type smell none-the-less.
The Clorox Anywhere Anti-Allergen Fabric Spray neutralizes up to 90% of allergens on fabrics.
There is no way for me to really know if this product is working as it claims right now. Over time, if I notice a reduction in my kids stuffy noses that seem to be caused by indoor allergies, then I will have more to say in that respect. If it is doing what it claims to do, though, this is a great product to have around the house to help you provide a healthy environment for your family.
If you have any questions about the Clorox Anywhere Anti-Allergen Fabric Spray I recommend the FAQ page on their website as it answers a bunch of common questions about the product.
