This weekend my daughter, my mom and I attended the Good Food Festival in Chicago. We attended last year for the first time and we definitely wanted to make sure we attended this year. We had tickets for some of the workshops in addition to the main exhibit area but because of a timing conflict we were not able to make it to the workshops. We still had a lot of fun and got to experience some great companies and farmers whose food philosophies are very much in line with our own.
A few months ago my son asked me “can we go to that food fest again” and while he had a birthday party to attend and couldn’t make the festival, his question really made me smile because it means it had a positive impact on him. He enjoyed going to a place where nothing was off limits. When we go grocery shopping normally, the store is filled with food we won’t eat. At the Good Food Festival, most everything was fair game. Plus they give free samples, and what kid doesn’t love that?
We chatted with a lot of great brands and farmers and Abby even got to hold a baby chicken. It was a great day and I discovered some new products and bought some old favorites as well.
I also want to raise chickens in my backyard. And maybe a goat.
