Common Sense Media is a resource for parents who are concerned about the media their kids are exposed to. It’s hard to know if you should allow your 6 year old to watch certain movies or play certain video games. CommonSense.org makes it easier for you to make these kinds of decision by providing expert ratings and reviews of movies, TV shows, video games, books, music and websites.
And it’s free!
They have a weekly newsletter and provide customized recommendations based up your kids ages. Also, aside from “expert” reviews and information, there is also feedback from regular parents just like you, and you can share your opinions as well. What a great way to make informed decisions about what your kids are watching.
And right now if you register (again, it’s free) you can get a FREE one week trial to Disney Digital Books. Disney Digital Books is pretty amazing because they have over 500 titles and the story is read aloud as you watch the book on the screen and they highlight the words as the book is read. They also have a story builder, trivia and a dictionary built in so if the kids don’t know a word, they can click on the word and a definition is provided. It is also designed to be age-appropriate for the particular reader.
After you receive your code for Disney Digital Books from Common Sense Media, if you want to keep trying the service, there is another code that I found online that is supposed to give you a TWO WEEK trial for the Disney service. This is the code: FamFunMar14
