Father’s Day Gift Ideas for the style and technology challenged #eBayDad

This post is a part of my participation in a campaign with eBay honoring dads for Father’s Dad. Make sure you keep reading for information on how to enter to win a $500 eBay Shopping Spree!

One Father’s Day, many years ago, my sister and I bought my dad a mug.

But it wasn’t just any mug.

It was a mug that epitomized our dad in a funny way.

This was at least 25 years ago that we bought this mug for him, and to this day he still has it.

The reason this mug was such a good fit was because he did indeed have a pair of pants that we continually made fun of and they looked very much like the ones on the mug except they were green and orange.

I kid you not.

My dad was a really good sport about the whole thing obviously, but that doesn’t mean it’s not time to give him something that can help him shrug off his past wardrobe indiscretions.

Another thing about my dad that is somewhat challenged is his lack of technology savvy. I’m not sure he could even turn on a computer, he can barely operate a remote control! But he seems interested in learning, he just needs some digital things of his own to learn on. So I put together another gift idea collection perfect for someone who could use some technology in their life.

My husband is getting breakfast in bed from the kids, but I’ll probably be getting him some new tri gear. It’s easy, it’s practical, and he always used it! ;)

My dad would like most of this stuff. He is pretty simple. He likes books and electronics. He is also diabetic so I usually put together a basket of snacks that he is allowed to eat.

great ideas. we got my dad a tee one year that said bank of dad with fake money coming out of the pocket. As adults he still treats his children, like kids

Well hey, if he is still handing out money, then let him treat you like kids LOL

That mug is hilarious, mostly because my dad did wear pants like that. Good gosh, I can think of a lot of men who need that GPS device!

Liz, I remember too that one leg of those fancy pants of his was longer than the other. Boy did we laugh about that a lot LOL

    Ooh great ideas! My dad is totally technology challenged, too- I’m not sure he could handle a camera like that but I’d love for him to have one! {Oh & that mug is awesome!}

I would definitely have to demonstrate some of that stuff more than once.

These are all great ideas! I love the mug too, unique gifts like that are so meaningful.

My husband is an Ebay junkie- he gets all kinds of vinyl records from there. He also love to get baseball cards!

    • Reply Kimberly Grabinski 06/03/2014 at 12:17 pm

I kind of wish we still had a record player, vinyl records are just cool!

Just in time. Sometimes a few gift tips are helpful. Seems a lot of the time I have no idea what to get for our dad.

My dad would be happy with food and socks, but I want to step outside that box a little bit LOL

I love all your great ideas! I’ll go make a collection for my husband now!

(I can’t imagine green & orange plaid pants!)

HAH, well he still has the mug, maybe he still has the pants. I’ll ask…

I should start a collection, I hadn’t even considered shopping eBay this year, considering my husband wants an Xbox One so badly ;)

Love the story about your Dad and I can see why that mug holds a special place in his heart. My favorite out of the collection above, will have to be the gift for technology challenged – the MacBook Pro and Sony 65″ TV has my name written all over it . I want it NOW.

    • Reply Kimberly Grabinski 06/03/2014 at 12:19 pm

I want to buy my dad the MacBook Pro so I can “borrow” it a lot HAH

I don’t have any Ebay collections yet, but I’m totally giggling about the mug you and your sister got for your dad. AND I love that he still has it. What a trooper :)

    • Reply Kimberly Grabinski 06/03/2014 at 12:20 pm

LOL yeah he took a lot of abuse from us, but was a totally good sport.

Everything for the daddy of this house has to be fishing related :)

    • Reply Kimberly Grabinski 06/03/2014 at 12:21 pm

My husband likes to fish but only goes out about once or twice a year.

There are lots of great ideas there, but I am lame and usually just go with a gift card for my hubby!
