Electrolux Nimble Vacuum review & giveaway
I love a good vacuum.
Some people stand in the electronics department of a store and ogle big screen TVs. Some people stare longingly at fast, shiny cars. Some people dream of restaurant quality appliances.
Me, I’m a vacuum junkie.
And the newest vacuum from Electrolux feeds my vacuum habit like no other.
Electrolux Nimble Vacuum
The Electrolux Nimble offers maneuverability, a quick-release wand, a 3-in-one tool, powerful performance and HEPA filtration in a bagless upright vacuum.
The Nimble was ready almost right out of the box.
I loved that all I had to do was snap the wand / handle into the base, set the 2 attachments in place, and plug it in.
Let’s talk about some of the Nimble’s main features.
The nimble is exactly that. Nimble. It moves easily and turns corners smoothly thanks to the swivel action at the base. It requires less motion to clean your carpets because you don’t always have to pull the vacuum back towards you in order to change direction.
WAND and TOOLS
I really like the way the wand is one piece that reaches up to 14′ and is accessible with a single button release. I actually look forward to using the tools now because it is so easy. I use them every time rather than only when enough gunk builds up on the stairs and in the corners to warrant it.
The Nimble comes with 2 tools. I prefer the simplicity of having just 2, and I was very excited by the idea of the 3-in-1 tool. The reality of it is that the practical application of the 3-in-1 tool just wasn’t working for me. It didn’t seem to have as much suction and I spent more time getting it in the position I wanted than actually vacuuming. And it kept flipping into a different position. Maybe I need more practice. In the end, I just use the brush attachment on my stairs and it does a great job. Both tools do have a tendency to get knocked on the floor quite frequently if you don’t push them in hard enough where they store on the vacuum.
The Nimble claims to have powerful performance that never loses suction. It really did pick up a lot of stuff from our carpet, and the suction seems very powerful both on the carpet and hard floors. The dust cup is really very large compared to other bagless uprights and is is so easy to remove and empty.
In addition to the powerful performance I was struck by how quiet this vacuum is. It was hard to believe that something that quiet was doing such a good job picking up all that grime and dog hair from my carpet.
Below is a video I put together to show you how easy it is to empty the dirt collection cup (well, I’m holding the camera at the same time so it might not look as easy as it really is) and to demonstrate the maneuverability of the Electrolux Nimble.
Some other features that add to my love of this vacuum include the washable HEPA filter and the 30′ long cord. I also like the weight of it, at 18 lbs it’s not too terribly heavy and it’s easy to move around with the handle on the dirt cup. Also, the Nimble comes with Electrolux’s 5 year warranty which is great peace of mind.
Another feature – and I’m not really sure what to call it because they don’t really advertise it, is what I call the ‘edge grabbers.’ On both side of the Nimble, near the front but on the bottom are these little rubber nubby things that at first annoyed the heck out of me because they were collecting dog hair and I had to pull it out with my hands.
But when I realized that they were actually rubbing up against the corner where the carpet meets the baseboard to pull dirt and other stuff out of a place no other vacuum can reach without an attachment, I was no longer annoyed. After using the Nimble, my baseboards are as clean as if I had used an edge attachment to clean them. I’ve never had a vacuum do that before. I will gladly pull the dog fuzz out of there each time I vacuum if it saves me the time and trouble of going along there with an attachment.
You can buy an Electrolux Nimble at stores like Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. You can also buy it online at Target.com, Walmart.com and Amazon.com. It generally runs about $299 but right not Amazon has it for $259.
