Chili’s Restaurant new menu items and contest announcement

Chili’s Grill and Bar Restaurant is one of my all-time favorites.  I could (and have in college), live on their Skillet Queso appetizer, it’s one of those things I think I could eat every day and never get tires of it.  Plus Chili’s has THE BEST salsa ever.

I admit that I’ve never tried too many different things at Chili’s.  I have my one favorite dish that I love and I have sampled others if someone I was with had something different.  I always order the same entree and the same sides.  Every. Time.

I was recently offered an opportunity to try Chili’s NEW menu, chock full of old favorites and brand new dishes, and I was sent a $50 gift card in order to facilitate my review.

Today, after we picked them from school, my friend and I took our 4 children (all age 6 and under – yes we’re a little nuts) to lunch at Chili’s.

My friend had been to Chili’s before but had never tries the Queso.  Seriously?  Well she has now and I think she’ll be ordering it again.  And again.  And again.  It was as good as I remember it!

Chili’s had a wide selection of NEW items, and many of them sounded great.  Some of the new things I noticed on the menu were the Loaded Nachos appetizer, Sweet Corn Soup, Caribbean Salad, Santa Fe Chicken Wrap, Shiner Bock BBQ Burger, and they have a new full taco menu with 5 different taco selections.

My friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and it looked really good!

I ordered the Smoked Chicken Tacos on mini corn tortillas and, of course, I can’t go to Chili’s and not get their Mashed Potatoes with Black Pepper Gravy (and corn on the cob for Abby).  In the past, I always would order the Chili’s chicken tacos, and the new tacos are markedly different.  They had a really good flavor, but weren’t quite as moist and juicy as their old chicken tacos.  Don’t get me wrong, they were good, but when you like something so much that it is the only thing you order, it takes a lot to beat it.

The kids all enjoyed their Kid’s Menu items….Abby maybe a little too much…

Overall the food was great, the service was wonderful (our server was very patient with us), and I look forward to going back and trying some of the other new items on Chili’s menu.

In addition to the new menu items, Chili’s also has a great new promotion going on where every day one person wins a gift card to Chili’s.  In order to enter, all you have to do is upload a video at Chili’s Shout Out to Eat Out explaining why you don’t want to cook tonight and you could win!  One person each day will win a Chili’s gift card through August 30, 2010.

And make sure you sign up for Chili’s Email Club to receive a coupon good for a FREE Chips & Queso Appetizer!

I received a $50 Chili’s gift card to try out some of the new Chili’s menu items.  The opinions presented are my own.

I have looked, been to, and called to ALL the Chili’s restaurants in my area [southeast Wisconsin] and NONE of them carry the sweet corn soup anymore. :[ I’ve stopped going there because of this, it was the only thing I liked there.

If you could send me the recipe I will be forever grateful!!
