(ended) Storytelling with Abby and her Brave Adventures – giveaway

My daughter loves Princesses, so of course when she saw a preview of the new Brave movie, she wasn’t interested.

Yes.

I said wasn’t.

We saw previews for Brave at the theater and I guess because Merida is not your typical “princess” she just didn’t connect with it.

That is, until she saw the doll.

Now she keeps asking to go see Brave at the theater, and I have promised to take her.  In the meantime, she has some toys to keep her occupied, but before we get to that, check out a synopsis of the movie:

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late. — (C) Disney

I asked Abby if she would tell me a story with her new toys, because she has been very interested in writing her own stories lately so she was glad to oblige.   But of course she couldn’t stop at just a single story.  Keep in mind she is 4 years old.

Story 1:

Merida is riding on her horsey.  She gets off her horsey and then she goes in her house.  Merida walks up the stairs to go in her bed.  And the horsey goes in the bottom.

Then the house closes and opens back up.  She gets out of her bed, and goes down the stairs.  And then she….is going on her horsey.  She has her bow and arrow.  They’re riding through the forest and then they are going back home.  The horsey goes in the bottom.  The bow and arrow goes on the table.  She moves the table for the horsey.  She is walking up back the stairs and going in the door and then she is on the bed.

Story 2:

She goes to sleep, the horsey comes out and went into the forest and he is trapped in the forest.  But he can jump over.  Merida calls “horsey, never go in there again.”. She put the horsey back in the house and she goes back in her room sitting on her chair.

Story 3:

The girl is riding on the horsey and then she fell off.  Then they found something in the box – someone hiding.  Then she found someone else hiding in the door, and then behind the stairs.  And then she yelled at them from hiding.  “Stop, don’t hide anymore.  I’m yeling at you from hiding.  Get out.”

Story 4:

She is on her horsey and then she gets off.  And then they are in the woods and then she’s at the store.  And then she jumps up on a box and jumps on her horsey.  Then she is riding back home.  At home she walks inside and she looks out the window and falls down. She gets back up and goes out and gets on her horsey again and rides to the store again.

I have been rather amazed at the creativity these toys have inspired.  I was also amazing at how gorgeous the doll is.
