Amazing Castles

I would love to live in a castle.  Well, provided I wasn’t the one who had to clean it.

I am obsessed with the architecture and the massive size of these glorious structures, many of them have been standing for hundreds of years.

I ‘d love to at least tour these places and see for myself exactly what they look like inside and what sort of rooms they have.

My love of castles goes beyond the fairy tale!

Take a look at some of amazing castles from around the world:

Neuschwanstein Castle

Castle Hohenschwangau

Castle De Haar in The Netherlands (Front View)

Dunrobin Castle

Castle Howard

  1. These are all lovely structures, but I wouldn’t call all of them castles. A castle is very much a defensive structure in addition to residence for nobility. Some of these would be more appropriately referred to as mansions or palaces. But as I said, lovely nevertheless.

  2. I have actually been to several of those castles. You might be disappointed if you did see the insides. Of the ones I saw, there was only one that was still in a livable state. The others were either unfinished or in ruins. Nice pictures though. And I would encourage you to live out your dream by visiting as many of them as you can.

  3. YES!! I, too, would LOVE to live in a castle! It wouldn’t even have to be a HUGE castle – I’d be ok with a little one!

I can’t wait to travel and visit castles of all shapes and sizes!

  4. I was once inside that Cochem castle when we went to Germany – that picture doesn’t do it justice..

  5. Selene M. says:

My daughter when to Scotland on her honeymoon, and they stayed in at least one castle while there. They visited many of them, most in ruin. Her husband is a history professor and she minored in history so they definitely have the interest and have since been to some in Ireland and England as well.

Maybe someday you’ll have the chance to actually overnight in one!

  6. That’s one reason why I’d like to visit the UK – castles!! :D
