Have you ever been woken up, from a very deep sleep, by a small child poking you in the forehead? I had that wonderful experience last night and as much as I am a light sleeper because of my children, he really scared the you-know-what out of me. I seriously was air born for a moment and my heart skipped a beat. In my stupor, as I began to focus on the creature standing next to the bed who turned out to be a boy, I was thinking, “what, what could be so important that it involves tapping on my skull?”
Whatever you happen to call them but he calls them covers. All 6 of the ones he insists on sleeping with and apparently they were not cooperating. At 2 am they were holding a revolt and refusing to do as he wanted. Generally that means that one of the six has left the bed for greener pastures.
Now, any sane person would think, “well, since he’s got 5 more, no problem right?”
4 year olds don’t think that way. Especially the kind who inherited their mother’s, shall we say, endearing qualities of being a wee bit obsessive-compulsive and a tiny bit of a control freak.
So, I grumpily got out of bed and went to re-position his covers.
All 6 of them.
One at a time.
In just the right order.
Facing just the right way (Lightning McQueen simply cannot be backwards or upside down).
Then he asked for ice water……….
