20 Second Fitness: do you have 4-12 minutes a day?

0 Flares 0 Flares ×

Last week I finished up 60 grueling days of the Insanity program (check out my Insanity results).

And I admit that the last two weeks were extremely hard.  Not hard physically, but emotionally.  To continue to get up between 5 and 5:30 am indefinitely and continue a fitness program of that intensity for upwards of an hour a day is not completely realistic as a long-term plan for a busy mom.

In short, I was burnt out.

But I still have goals to achieve plus I wanted to find something that will help me stay in shape for the long term.  Something I can commit to that fits into my schedule and my lifestyle.

So when I got an email introducing me to a program called 20 Second Fitness, my interest was piqued.

20 Second Fitness promises that you will lose weight in 4-12 minutes a day.  They guarantee it.

Skeptical?

Take a look at this video for a glimpse into the way the program works:

Still skeptical?

Well, at this point, I admit I’m not 100% convinced either.  Which is why I’m going to try it.  To go from working out for 40+ minutes a day to 8 minutes a day and still achieve results doesn’t make logical sense.  But the program has sound theory and medical science behind it to back it up.

For the sake of all moms everywhere who want to get in shape and just can’t find the time, I am anxious and excited to see results with this program.

I am going to use the picture below as my before photo, because, well, I was on the beach in Cancun and I’m technically wearing a swimsuit, even though you can’t see much of my legs.

My goal weight is 135-140 lbs.  I currently weigh 157 lbs.

I started 20 Second Fitness this morning.  I actually skipped the warmup – the first 2 weeks of the program consists of 12 different workouts that help condition you and get your ready to go super intense.  Well, I went super intense with Insanity and after watching the warmup I decided to jump right in!

Stay tuned!

  1. I think I should like to try this! Kudos to you fore making the decision to get healthy and fit! I think you look beautiful!

  2. “To continue to get up between 5 and 5:30 am indefinitely and continue a fitness program of that intensity for upwards of an hour a day is not completely realistic as a long-term plan for a busy mom.”
This is exactly why Hubs and I just quit the P90X program after about 45 days. I’m intrigued!

  3. Hmmm, looks like a good program. Almost like interval training in a way….every day. I have to wonder if this is good to do everyday? It looks pretty intense and I’m interested to see your results. To be honest, the video made me sick. Someone needs to take the video camera away from whoever was filming. :)

  4. I am very interested in your thoughts Kim – coming from a gal that did super intense workouts for almost an hour a day. This sounds like a beginners program, and if it can give you results – and you are already pretty fit – then I am convinced. Can’t wait to do this with you, I”m on day 3!

    • When I spoke with Spencer on the phone, he said that with this program I can lose the last 15-20 lbs I want to lose and keep it off forever without “dieting”. Eating right, yes but not dieting.

Today is my 3rd day as well but like I said, I skipped the W.

My thoughts so far are that I probably work harder in those 8 minutes than I did at any given point with Insanity because with Insanity I knew I had 40+ minutes to go. The theory about running a 4 minute mile or running a 30 minute mile is interesting to me. Do you burn the same amount of calories? I’ll have a better feel for it next week, honestly this week I still feel a bit of a Mexico hangover – I want to lay by the pool and tan instead of do much of anything.

  5. Oh wow! I reeeeeeeeeeeeeally like this concept!!!!! Can’t wait to hear about it!!! Be detailed so we know all the exercises!!!! :)

  6. Okay, I was very skeptical when I heard the name but after watching that video I can see that this program really might work! I love how quick it is, can’t wait to see what your results are!

  7. How do you like it so far? I am doing the warm up weeks and already working muscles it didn’t know I had – and I’m trying to get the whole family into it – we’ll see who sticks with me through the end of the week…thanks for being my inspiration with insanity, I can’t wait to compare results!

    • I was going to go ahead and do the warmup weeks but I thought that there might be other people like me who have done super intense stuff lately and want to skip it, so I thought it made for a valid way to start the program.
You know, it really is a great idea to get the whole family into it. EVERYONE has 4-12 minutes a day. My kids like to workout along side me too so it’s fun.
I am definitely tired, after the workout but I’m finding myself pacing myself because I had to with Insanity. i think by the end of the week I’ll have worked out the kinks in my brain.

  8. Looking good in that suit Kim! Can I just say you inspire me and you look amazing?! Can’t wait to see your results at the end of this :)
